Straight out of Rio, a mind-scrambling fusillade of samples fired off from an overheated DJ controller, abstracting & refracting the local baile funk sound into something approaching noise or concrète. Virtuosity is cool, but I’m more compelled by novel uses of it, and the way DJ Ramon Sucesso rewires turntablism for the TikTok era is as fascinating as it is impressive. Unmissable, and completely overwhelming.
