The chambers in question are startlingly bare, unfussy, with just a few well-chosen but unexpected elements. Hat stand, wash basin, oil painting. Formica countertop, water feature, television. Church bell, shore bird, room sound. Bass plod, muffled drums, sleepy post-punk vocals. Every combination starts to sound inevitable, or none do. Textured, lived-in, special record.
