Following a dazzlingly strange debut LP and a killer 7” from 2021, the mysterious Berlin collective Iris is back with friends as Irisplus. At the core of the record are their jangling psychedelic guitar sound and bubbly synths, but multilingual guest vocals and drums push the sound into new—sometimes less strange, sometimes differently strange—places. Self-described as “Lazy, stumbling slacker songs,” the vocal cuts exemplify a 2020s Euro indie oddity that has taken shape on labels like South of North and this one, Tax Free Records. Ace.
