Wild, lonesome early work from the incredible Jon Collin, presented in a beautiful new edition on his Early Music imprint (which presumably took its name from this). Apart from a few burnt electric pieces, there’s an emphasis on acoustic slide guitar with a more pronounced American Primitive influence than on more recent outings, both stylistically and in terms of raw emotion. This music ages just beautifully—a welcome occasion to revisit.
