Magical! A split release between All Night Flight and Conatala, and I can't describe it any better than they did below.
FROM THE LABELS:
A dream within a dream - Innocent and whimsical song-craft from a vibrant pocket of the contemporary Italian underground via Naples-born Lucia Sole aka La Festa Delle Rane. New split release between ANF and Tokyo friends Conatala.
It’s impossible not to be totally captivated by this. Lucia’s explorative, imperfect song-writing leans into a sense of cranky, domesticated nostalgia and soft melancholy - songs (you can just about call them that) are just about held together by a loose thread of warbling melodica melody or gently strummed campfire guitar. But it also deals in juxtaposition - Lucia’s distinctive singing voice lands high in the register, an intimate falsetto that adds an endearing child-like quality which combined with combined with twinkling percussion, glockenspiel, organ creates an kaleidoscopic cosmos. Just like shaking up a snow globe and watching a private microcosm come to life, La Festa Delle Rane (literally The Frogs Party) feels at home alongside the child-like wonder of French DIY duo Klimperei, Pascal Comelade’s naive side or introverted psychedelia of Aki Tsuyuko. Build yourself a den and climb inside.
