Thrilled to find this still in print! For whatever reason, most singer-songwriter music leaves me cold these days, but Maxine Funke is a towering exception. Long active in the unwieldy New Zealand underground, she presents its friendliest face, just-so indie folk up there with the very best of it: Nick Drake, Sibylle Baier, Vashti Bunyan, & so forth. This release ballasts some of her most perfectly distilled creations with longer-form, open-ended, exploratory musings.
