A lovely mix of glitchy, organic ambient and charming field recordings accompanied by a beautifully made artist's book. Highly recommended!
FROM THE LABEL:
I painted my fence in the rain so I could do it all over again’ challenges the idea of creation unobstructed by thought. Working as a preschool teacher, Zach has spent days making art alongside children, becoming drawn to their readiness to follow sudden hunches, to move toward ideas before they harden, listening for what wants to emerge rather than deciding what should be made, and exploring without a reason to conclude.
The album carries this sense of spontaneity into its production, unfolding through free-flowing attention to sound itself and its emotional pull. Rather than following a fixed plan, the process remains responsive—each gesture shaped by the shifting variables of the moment, trusting sounds as they arise from fleeting
inner impressions, each decision open to the sudden discoveries that surface along the way.
What emerges is a glitch-woven lattice of fleeting sounds which lets the music settle into its final form through a soft, affective drift. Gentle sample
arrangements catch feelings, words and whispers in motion, offering not a resolved statement but a glimpse—finding beauty not in convention or polish, but in the brief resonance with something unnameable, honoring the fragile, transient charm of an impulse.
The project contains a CD along with a hand bound artist book featuring drawings and text by Zach Howenstein and students of Woodland Playhouse in Phoenicia, NY.
