This 2nd solo outing from Princ€ss member Finn Carraher McDonald has been mad hyped, and in the breathless rush to recommend before it disappears, there’s been an understandable reliance on shorthand: shoegaze, dream-pop, Panda Bear, & MBV. After a couple spins, it’s not so much the well-loved touchstones as the timeless sense of itself that impresses. The influences don’t feel imitative so much as ready-to-hand, new traditions allowing for a new kind of traditional music.
