My favorite card in Brian Eno’s deck of “Oblique Strategies” simply states “Repetition is a form of change.” It’s hard to think of a group that exemplifies the aphorism better than Joshua Abrams’ Natural Information Society, whose compositions seem to go nowhere and everywhere, each one winding through a steady groove like a pattern in an ornate carpet, looping, repeating, subtly shifting, “identical in its very alterations,” to quote another head.
