LP

First vinyl reissue of a singular lo-fi cassette release from 1984. Sometimes coming on sweetly like lo-fi, anachronistic Stereolab, sometimes torquing, ungainly, like a post-punk tilt-a-whirl, there's always something wild going on with this one that you've not quite heard anywhere else. Limited to 150 copies and already sold out at source. Tip!

Note: Some very slight corner dings on most of these, not at all inconsistent with the scrappy DIY presentation.

FROM THE LABEL:

Concentric Circles is proud to present an LP reissue of the mysterious 1984 cassette release from Pedestal, a slice of irresistibly catchy sideways glancing pop. Comprised of the duo of Erik and Rachel Mueller, very little is known about the group. There were a couple of appearances on Mark Lane’s “On-Slaught” compilations in the early 80s, followed by a huge gap (and stylistic shift) until a 7” in 1997 on the Twee Kitten label. During the interim years a cassette was barely released, leaving hardly a trail of evidence in the meantime.

Similar in approach to what a few other projects were up to around then (Flying Lizards, IXNA, etc.), what set Pedestal apart was their love of the clavinet, the funkiest of all keyboards, not to mention some seriously adept bass playing. Topped off with Rachel’s sweetly charming vocal phrasings, it was a match made in avant-pop heaven.

This is the first in a series of LPs that will be limited to 150 copies, with paste on covers and hand stamped jackets and labels. No distro, only available direct from Concentric Circles and a select few shops.
