A strange & beautiful new release on Gothenburg’s Frihetens Förlag imprint. Danish artist Post-Tragic Man offers up a series of meditative, repetitious piano pieces recalling Charlemagne Palestine or my beloved Colette Roper, alternating with passages of rhythmic body tapping. The whole thing is rich with background noise, tape hiss, mystery, & bliss.

With varied hand-drawn covers by Gustaf Dicksson, each one unique, this is the kind of unaccountable Scandinavian artifact that etched Gothenburg into my imagination to begin with. What Förlag För Fri Musik did with amateur nude photos & Christian iconography, this release does with New Age yoga sensibility—impossible to separate the ironic from the dead serious, and all the lovelier & wilder for it.
