Okay, who was going to tell me about this one? It’s been patiently waiting in my digital queue for years; I vaguely thought it was some kind of ambient thing. In fact, it’s the work of a violinist and improviser who’s worked with Eliane Radigue, Christian Wolff, and Jürg Frey, to name a few. But that’s its own red herring.
Mi specchio e rifletto is a collection of absolutely stunning chamber/art pop songs that has me thinking of everyone from Penguin Cafe to Brigitte Fontaine to Björk. I’ve played this a bunch lately and still don’t fully have my head around it, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite albums of the 2020s. Stunner!
