I’ve never been to Antwerp, so the name of the label that put this out—Postcards From Imaginary Cities—feels apt. Clearly something in the Belgian water, because there’s a strain of Gothic, moonlit, homemade, synthesizer-friendly jazz-not-jazz that sprouts from the soil there like night-blooming flowers, from Benjamin Lew to this worthy new gem by Simon B.
