First vinyl release of music composed for a Kyoto-based multimedia performance art troupe in 1986. An engrossing sound world, clearly anchored in the minimalism & performance art of its time—Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson—but with its own jaunty, steam-powered, mechanical charm. Inventive, too, with typewriter percussion played back on a sampler—then very cutting-edge—and the odd burst of synthetic Badalamenti jazz. Very warmly recommended.
