Positively cyborgian outing from drum ’n’ bass whizz upsammy and drummer Valentina Magaletti. It’s hard to stop marveling at how great everything Magaletti touches is—especially given how much she touches—but this one is a hell of an outlet for her polyrhythmic prowess. There’s virtuosity and then there’s gnosis—and while you can find the first for hire, it’s rarely bolstered by so much of the latter. The nooks she finds in these complex pockets are invisible to the human eye, and a sprinkling of the shamanic dust that so often coats her solo work makes this far more than just a showcase. Sick.
