Volodja Brodsky
Winterglare
We Are Busy Bodies
Estonia/Canada, 2026
LP
The proper follow-up to Brodsky’s stunning work of piano minimalism from last year, Rain Drops, Winterglare shifts the mood from drizzly spring to glassy winter, as the title evocatively suggests. “Inspired by the rare brilliance of winter sunlight breaking through Estonia’s short, quiet days,” the record beautifully evokes that frigid brightness. Adding subtle touches of electric piano, vibraphone, percussion, and tape echo to the palette, Brodsky expands his notion of neo-romantic piano music into a more encompassing and varied ambient landscape. Lovely.
