Absolutely beautiful Hardanger fiddle minimalism by Zosha Warpeha, the second vinyl release on D.C.’s Outside Time label following that excellent Weston Olencki record last year. Warpeha spent two years in Norway mastering the folk traditions of the 10-stringed Hardanger d'amore before putting those techniques to her own ends. What emerges is an austere, meditative practice, with folk elements and occasional faint vocals flickering like votive candles in the pitch-black room of her extended drones.
